Was scrolling the other day when a style board from a mega influencer (think: million+ followers, deep pockets, endlessly chic wardrobe) caught my eye. Not just because it was attractive—but because it looked a lot like what I’ve already been sharing here.
At first, I thought, “fun!” (and ok, a little validating). But then I looked closer. Same straw bucket hat, same thong sandal, same jean cut-offs, same quiet luxury vibes—just with a few more zeros (and a logo) attached. It made me think: the gap between aspirational and attainable is what I hope to bridge with the LKO Edit.
Side note: In London, the train politely reminds you to ‘mind the gap’ when exiting—a phrase that now feels oddly relevant to my own goals here. Fittingly, it’s also the name of a very stylish wallpaper brand that I love.
Ok, let’s dive in…I did some price comparisons on the second slide.
Exhibit A —all Prada via mega influencer
Exhibit B — from The LKO Edit
My links clockwise from top left (and there are some sales happening): Bucket hat, two piece, black tank, white dress , one piece, thong sandals, straw bag, raffia ballet flats.
Girl Math: Prada total $11,095 - LKO Edit total $1,416 = Your savings $9,679
My board is entitled ‘European Summer’ because you could book a very nice trip to Europe with the money you’d save. Also, many of my recommendations have that understated European feel —especially the Canfora sandals, which are actually from Italy. Whether you're traveling or staying close to home, it’s about capturing that low key, luxe aesthetic.
Totally get it if you love Prada—designer pieces can be amazing, and it’s great to invest in timeless items when you can. But let’s be real: a cart full of pricey summer basics and raffia isn’t practical for most people or where the value is.
LKO tip: Check out The RealReal for designer finds—especially off-season. Right now is a great time to look for winter pieces like a Moncler ski coat or a great pair of boots. On the flip side, look for that designer raffia in the dead of winter.
Also, don’t underestimate the power of vintage shopping. It’s my forever favorite.
One of my goals with this newsletter is to share fun, accessible ways to elevate your look. I worked in fashion for several years—in-house PR for Barneys New York and Ann Taylor—so I understand how trends work their way down the fashion food chain. Most start at places like Chanel, Gucci and yes, Prada, and then filter through countless brand iterations along the way.
Last year my girls bought super cute pearl phone wristlets and beaded phone chains at Harrods in London and now very similar versions are available at J Crew. I linked the J Crew ones because they always get compliments on them and it’s honestly a fun and even practical addition to something we are almost always holding.
What I love is finding things that actually work for real life—pieces that feel stylish and fresh without the sticker shock (though I’m not necessarily bargain-hunting either). For me, it’s all about the thrill of the hunt—and I’ll be sharing what I find. Stay tuned.
Xx Linda
And thought I’d end with a shot of our new wine bar —featuring Mind the Gap wallpaper (and being expertly christened).
Milan Travel Tip - We loved Milan, especially the La Brera section (above) and our favorite restaurant was Al Baretto in San Marco.
